How do I edit a booking?

You can edit a booking, even if the guest has already made a payment.

If you’d like to change the dates or number of guests, for example, or add additional fees, simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Inbox and open the conversation with the guest

  2. Click Edit booking under the Booking details section

  3. A pop-up window will appear – here, you can change the booking dates, rental cost or add a fee (please note, you cannot edit the guest contact details or damage deposit)

  4. Add a message to the guest and click Send

Your guest will then receive a notification inviting them to review the new booking details and take action within 48 hours. Once they accept, they’ll have up to 96 hours to make any additional payments (if required).

What happens if the price changes?

If you edit a booking and the price changes as a result, what happens depends on whether your guest paid a booking deposit or the full balance:

  • Booking deposit paid only – the price change will affect the booking balance. For example, if the price increases or decreases, the balance (and, if necessary, the date this is due) will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Full balance paid – if the price increases, the guest will be asked to make an additional payment. If the price decreases, we’ll issue a refund to the guest for the difference.

Whenever a booking is edited, you’ll be notified via email and able to monitor progress on the conversation page with the guest.

What happens if the price stays the same?

If the price stays the same—for example, if you’re moving the booking from 1 - 10 July to 2 - 11 July—your guest only has to confirm they agree with the change and the new dates will be confirmed. Your calendar and payout date will be updated accordingly.

What if the traveller doesn’t take action, or declines the changes?

If the traveller lets the request expire, the booking will remain as it was before you made any edits.

If the traveller declines the request, the booking will again remain as it was before. If necessary, you can then send the guest a new request.

When can I not edit a booking?

You will not be able to edit a booking if:

  • The booking includes an occupancy tax, or there is an occupancy tax set up on your account

  • You are trying to reduce your price by more than 75%

  • You are trying to reduce your price and the total will be less than the booking deposit

  • The stay has started already

  • You’ve edited the booking before (and the traveler has accepted the change)

  • You have not accepted the latest Terms and Conditions. Simply log in to your account and you’ll be presented with the Terms of use update.

If you’re unable to make changes online, please follow the instructions that appear onscreen.

We will be able to change the dates of a booking a second time if you contact us, but this second change can only affect the dates, not the price.

Please note: This functionality is available only to owners using our Online Booking system.
